Student Medicover Provides Additional Health Insurance Resources for International Students at St. Charles Community College

Merced College

Student Medicover Co. LLC has expanded the health insurance information and support resources available to international students at St. Charles Community College in Cottleville, Missouri.

St. Charles Community College has added Student Medicover’s insurance information and dedicated school page to its student resource list. The resources give international students an additional way to review health insurance options, understand the individual enrollment process, locate nearby healthcare services, and request assistance with insurance- and healthcare-related questions.

As part of the initiative, Student Medicover developed a school-specific information and enrollment page, provided insurance and enrollment materials, compiled information about local healthcare resources, and delivered a CarePack for an incoming international student.

St. Charles Community College does not have an exclusive insurance arrangement with Student Medicover. Students remain free to compare available providers and select the insurance option that best meets their individual needs.

Supporting International Students at St. Charles Community College

St. Charles Community College is a community college located in Cottleville, Missouri. It offers academic programs, workforce education, online learning opportunities, and student support services for a diverse student population.

The college’s International Student Services office assists international students with admissions information, financial guidance, housing resources, and other matters related to studying and living in the United States.

Health insurance and access to medical care can be especially challenging for students who are new to the U.S. healthcare system. International students may need additional guidance when comparing insurance options, completing enrollment, finding nearby medical providers, or understanding how to access care.

Following discussions initiated at NAFSA, Student Medicover and St. Charles Community College continued communicating about ways to make health insurance information and healthcare resources more accessible to international students. Student Medicover subsequently prepared school-specific materials and a dedicated information page, which the college added to its student resource list.

Health Insurance and Student Support Resources

The initiative includes the following resources for international students at St. Charles Community College:

  • Dedicated school information page: Student Medicover created a school-specific health insurance information and enrollment page for international students connected with St. Charles Community College.
  • Student resource listing: St. Charles Community College added Student Medicover’s insurance information and dedicated school page to its student information resources.
  • International student communications: The college shares insurance provider information through channels such as pre-departure emails, insurance reminders, office visits, and orientation sessions. Student Medicover’s information may be included as one of the available resources while students retain the ability to compare providers and make independent enrollment decisions.
  • Insurance and enrollment information: Student Medicover provided materials explaining individual health insurance options and the enrollment process. Information about potential group enrollment options was also shared for future consideration; however, no group enrollment program is currently in place.
  • Student Medicover CarePack: Student Medicover delivered a CarePack for an incoming international student, and the college confirmed that it arrived safely. The CarePack includes basic first aid supplies, health-related items, and emergency-preparedness materials designed to help international students prepare for campus life in the United States.
  • Local healthcare information: Resources prepared for the dedicated school page include information about campus wellness contacts and nearby urgent care centers, hospitals, and pharmacies in the Cottleville and greater St. Charles area.
  • Direct student support: Student Medicover provides an online support channel for students seeking assistance with health insurance, enrollment, medical provider access, claims, and other healthcare-related questions.

These resources are intended to supplement the information already available to students. Their inclusion in the college’s student materials should not be interpreted as an exclusive insurance arrangement, an official endorsement of a particular plan, or a requirement to enroll through Student Medicover.

Helping Students Navigate Healthcare with Greater Clarity

“We appreciate the opportunity to provide international students at St. Charles Community College with accessible insurance information, enrollment resources, and practical healthcare guidance. Our communication with the college has helped us better understand the resources its international students may need as they prepare to study and live in the United States.”

— Kevin Li, Chief Operating Officer, Student Medicover Co. LLC

St. Charles Community College also confirmed that the Student Medicover information and CarePack had been received:

“I have added your insurance information and our school’s landing page to the student information list. The care package arrived safe and sound. I can imagine how excited the incoming student will be when they see it.”

— Lingru Kong, Coordinator, International Student Services, St. Charles Community College

The dedicated school page, student resource listing, enrollment materials, local healthcare information, CarePack, and direct support channels give international students additional tools for reviewing insurance options and navigating healthcare in the United States.

Student Medicover looks forward to maintaining communication with St. Charles Community College and exploring additional ways to provide clear, practical resources for its international student community.

Introduction

This May, Student Medicover participated in the NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo in beautiful San Diego, California, as a valued partner committed to supporting international education. At NAFSA 2025, we connected with educators, advisors, and school partners from around the world to strengthen our mission of providing comprehensive insurance and support solutions for students studying in the U.S.

Our presence at NAFSA 2025 marked not just another year of participation, but a renewed commitment to serving a broader student community. In addition to international student health insurance, we proudly introduced three major solutions that now also include domestic students and group programs—expanding our mission to support students of all backgrounds in the U.S.

1. A Changing Landscape in International Education

1. A Changing Landscape in International Education

The atmosphere at NAFSA 2025 was shaped by recent headlines and growing policy uncertainty. In light of recent developments affecting international student enrollment, many institutions are rethinking how to better support their global student populations.

We noticed this shift firsthand in conversations with international student offices. School representatives shared concerns about visa trends and compliance, and emphasized a growing need for services that go beyond basic health insurance—such as mental health support, student success tools, and reliable bilingual services.

2. Confidence Through Connection

2. Confidence Through Connection

Even though the atmosphere felt tense, there was still a strong sense of hope and shared responsibility. As educators and service providers working with international students, everyone we met expressed a deep commitment to supporting students in the U.S., no matter the challenges.

“We’re all here because we care about students,” one international advisor told us. “And we’re looking for partners who can grow with us, especially in a time like this.”

This confidence matches our values at Student Medicover. We believe that by working together—with schools, organizations, and insurers—we can provide better protection and peace of mind to the international student community.

We eagerly anticipate understanding their requirements better to provide insurance services tailored to the student community. We are committed to working hand in hand with universities to offer even more attentive insurance services to students.

It’s worth mentioning that at the universities we visited, over 90% of international students have been insured with Student Medicover’s health insurance. This indicates that we have a deeper understanding of this group, as we grow alongside them and face the medical challenges of student life together.
