Get quality care from a national network

A network is a group of health care providers and facilities that have a contract with United Healthcare. You can receive care and services from anyone in or out of our network, but you save money when you visit Preferred Providers in the national network.

Find Care in 15 Minutes

  • Visit Preferred Provider Lookup

Please refer to Section 5 of your policy certificate for the preferred providers network information. Click on the corresponding network below to search for participating physicians, hospitals, facilities, medical equipment, or supplies in your local school area.

  • Enter your location

To locate a care provider near your location, enter a street address, city, and state, or a 5-digit zip code.

  • Search for the care you need

Enter Primary Care Physicians, Hospitals, or Urgent Care Centers in the search bar.
To select by medical care categories, click the tabs below the search bar.

    • Search for Vaccines: Services and Treatments > Vaccines > Adult Vaccines > Choose Type of Vaccines

Visit a doctor who knows you best

Your primary care physician knows you and your health history. He or she can access your medical records. If it’s not urgent, it’s usually best to go to your own physician’s office.

Visit your Primary Care Physician for:

  • Preventive Care
  • Follow-up Care
  • Sicknesses and Injuries during business hours

Find a doctor specialized in your symptom

A specialist is a doctor with expertise in specific area of medicine. If you’re enrolled in Student Medicover, you do not need a referral from a primary care physician to visit a specialist. We highly recommend you visit a primary care physician if you are not sure about which type of special care you are looking for.

Speak to a doctor online in 15 minutes. It’s free.

Through HealthiestYou, you can speak to a physician via phone and/or video chat* for diagnosis and treatment of many different acute sicknesses. There are no copays or coinsurance to utilize HealthiestYou, if you are a member of the plan. (A $40 consultation fee applies for non-members.)

Visit your online doctor for:

  • Rashes
  • Minor infections
  • Sore throats

Skip the wait, pay less for emergencies

Sometimes you may need care fast but your primary care physician may be unavailable. Urgent care centers can help treat different minor injuries so you don’t have to wait as long as the emergency room. Chances are, the price goes down as well.

An urgent care center can help with:

  • Minor cuts
  • Sprains & strains
  • Minor broken bones
  • Allergies
  • Headaches
  • Rashes
  • Fevers

Seek care immediately

If you’re seriously injured or experience other life-threatening health conditions, call the emergency hotline (911) or visit the nearest emergency facility. If you are experiencing non-life-threatening symptoms, visit an urgent care instead.

An Emergency room can help with:

  • Heavy bleeding
  • Chest pain
  • Major burns
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Large open wounds
  • Sudden changes in vision
  • Severe head and/or spinal injuries

Understanding your bill

Copayment (or co-pay)

You’ll usually pay a fixed amount of money for each covered doctor visit or prescription

Deductible

The amount you pay for covered health care services before your insurance plan starts to pay. A deductible may not apply to all services.

Coinsurance

The percentage of costs of a covered health care service the insurance company pays after you’ve paid your deductible.

Out-of-pocket Maximum

The most you have to pay for covered services in a plan year. After you spend this amount on deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance, your health plan pays 100% of the costs of covered benefits. The out-of-pocket limit doesn’t include your monthly premiums. It also doesn’t include anything you spend for services your plan doesn’t cover.
