FAQs

As many health insurance plans exclude dental coverage for adults, dental insurance helps reduce your out-of-pocket costs for dental procedures. Student Medicover offers several dental insurance policies providing flexible dental coverage for you and your family.

Dental insurance policies require the member to provide an SSN when enrolling. Student Medicover may issue a Generic ID for members without an SSN. Please email the following information to sm@smcovered.com:

First & Last Name / Birthday / Gender / Email Address / Mailing Address / Phone Number / Passport ID

We will process your Generic ID request within 1-2 business days.

The cost of dental insurance varies based on the type of plan, the level of coverage, and the region. Premiums can range from 10 to 70 dollars per month.

During the enrollment process, we will recommend the best dental plans based on your ZIP Code, dental needs, and the earliest effective date.

When visiting an in-network dentist, simply provide your dental insurance information to your dentist, and the dentist will help file the claim on your behalf. After the claim is processed, the dentist will bill you for the applicable copay and coinsurance.
If you are visiting an out-of-network dentist, you would typically pay out-of-pocket and submit a claim to the dental insurance.
Dental insurance policies categorize dental procedures into three categories: prevenive care (cleanings and X-rays), basic procedures (fillings and sealants), and major procedures (extractions, crowns, and root canals). Most poclies have a 6-month waiting period for basic procedures and a 12-month waiting period for major procedures.

Student Medicover offers dental plans with no waiting period, covering basic and major procedures once the plan becomes effective.
